Katrina Czerkies

Katrina Czerkies is a Forensic Psychologist and Board-Approved Supervisor with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), bringing over 20 years of experience in forensic psychology practice. She is highly regarded for her expertise in psychological assessment and treatment related to offending behaviour, with particular interest and experience in general violence, sexual violence, group-based violence, and extreme violence, including violent extremism, terrorism, and lone-actor grievance-fuelled violence.

Katrina has extensive experience working with complex and high-risk forensic populations, including delivery of high-intensity treatment programs for sexual and violent offending and practice within ultra-security environments. She has collaborated closely with agencies responsible for the administration of both state and Commonwealth post-sentence legislation schemes and is highly skilled in the preparation of comprehensive psychological reports for courts and sentencing authorities across the criminal justice system.

A passionate and ethical clinician, Katrina is known for her evidence-based, person-centred, and trauma-informed approach. She prioritises gaining a deep understanding of each individual within the context of their lived experience and current circumstances. Through support, accountability, and collaboration, she assists clients to better understand themselves, disrupt unhelpful behavioural patterns, and work toward meaningful and sustainable change.

Katrina rejects a ‘one-size-fits-all’ model of forensic intervention. She values choice, dignity, and accountability, and holds the view that behaviour does not define a person—it reflects one part of how they have learned to cope and survive. With the right support, people can learn new ways of living that align more closely with who they want to be.

In 2026, Katrina founded Katrina Czerkies Forensic Psychology, driven by a commitment to ensuring access to high-quality, forensic psychological services across custodial and community settings, and to supporting individuals involved in the criminal justice system to move toward safer, healthier, and more meaningful lives.
